I've been really behind reading books almost
a year after people have been raving about them. I mean The Hunger Games I didn't read
until about 6 months ago. The Perks of Being a Wallflower I didn't
finish until last week. The Faults in
Our Stars I read over the summer, or at least tried to read. And I have
NEVER read Harry Potter. So now
to add to my procrastination collection, I am proud to present, Divergent.
As soon as I read the first line of the
book, "There is one mirror in my house," (1) I was immediately confused. You later find out that she is 16. Now I don't know about you, but I don't know
a single sixteen year old girl who doesn't have AT LEAST 50 mirrors in her
house. You read more to find out that
she really doesn’t have anything that would promote "self-indulging"
time.
She lives in a place that kinda reminds me
of The Hunger Games; it too has a controlling society. This society knows one thing for sure. The world they live in was a warring
one. Those who blame selfishness go to
Abnegation, those who blame aggression formed Amity, those who blamed lying created
Candor, those who blame stupidity formed Erudite, and those who blame
cowardness go to Dauntless.
This blog post is VERY relatable. I have also never read Harry Potter. I love how you mention about tennage girls having a lot of mirrors because it is very true. This summary is very helpful and a good quick overview about a little bit of the book.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Katie, very relateable! HOW HAVE YOU NEVER READ Harry Potter? You will enjoy DIvergent for sure.
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading the same book! I agree that the society created in this novel reminds me of the Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate to this post A LOT. Im still reading The Fault in Our Stars and I have yet to read divergent. Im kind of hesitant to read Divergent because it seems really similar to the Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteI don't have 50 mirrors.. though I'm not actually 16 yet... Hah I found this post relatable just as much as the other commenters, Divergent has been a popular book recently and I really enjoyed reading about your opinion on it- you're voice is clear too, great job!
ReplyDeleteHello Audrey! I can totally relate to you and your procrastination on reading these popular teen novels... except I have never read any of them! I try to stay away from the very popular teen books because they always end up getting spoiled by my friends.. and nobody likes a spoiler!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Audrey!! YAY!!!
